Hair:  Must be worn up and off the face, preferably in a bun, as this is part of the decorum of a dancer.  A Hair stretchy hairband may help students with short hair.   If you are unsure about how to make a bun please ask one of the teachers for assistance.  Ponytails should be avoided.

Ballet Shoes:  Students mus wear leather ballet shoes with elastics sewn on.  DO NOT  purchase canvas gymnastic shoes. There is no right or left in ballet shoes; switch them each week (unless one foot is longer than the other, which is quite common).students in the enrichment program will be individually assessed before starting Pointe work.  An appointment at the National Ballet School’s Shoe Room will then be arranged by Miss Eilleen.

Old Uniforms and Shoes:  If you are purchasing a new bodysuit and/or ballet shoes for your child and would like to donate the old ones to MBA, we can make good use of them at rectial time.

Washroom Trips:  In younger classes, the duty parent will be asked to take the dancers to the washroom.  As students age, a buddy system will be established for washroom trips during class (when necessary). Please encourage your child (or all of the children if you are the observation parent of the day) to use the washroom before class.

Waiting for Class:  Students and their siblings are restricted to the waiting area (hallway, non-carpeted area only) before class and are not allowed to wander the building. The noise level should be kept at a suitable level. No one is to go further down the hallway than the freight elevator as this is a restricted electrical area for the theatre.

Reminders:  DO NOT bring any food that contains peanuts to the Living Arts Centre.
