Policies and Guidelines

REGISTRATION: All students must be a minimum of three years of age by the date of the first class and must by potty-trained.

LATE REGISTRATION: Acceptance of new students mid-term will occur at the discretion of the Artistic Director.  A fee payment schedule for the remaining class fees will be determined by the Treasurer based on the date of registration.

WITHDRAWAL/REFUND POLICY 2022-23:

The MBA requests a written letter indicating the reason for withdrawal from the school. 50% of each scheduled payment (see fee chart) is non-refundable. The other 50% of the paid amount will be refunded according to the following schedule:

  • Payment one:  50% is refundable until November 1, 2022.  No refunds will be given for the first installment after November 1.
  • Payment two:  50% is refundable until February 15, 2023.  No refunds will be given for the second installment after February 15.
  • Full payment:  If fees are paid in full at the beginning of the season, the equivalent of 50% of the first installment plus the second installment will be refunded if the withdrawal is on or before November 1, 2022.  The equivalent of 50% of the second installment will be refunded if the withdrawal is after November 1, but before February 15, 2023.

NSF CHEQUES: Parents/Guardians will be responsible for a $30.00 NSF charge..

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: In the case of severe weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, please call 416-410-9947 for regular updates. MBA will not call you. Due to MBA’s schedule and contractual agreements, cancelled classes will not be rescheduled.

REQUIRED MINIMUM ATTENDANCE: If a student misses 50% or more classes in a session, participation in any performances or demonstrations shall be at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

PRIVACY POLICY: Any information collected from members may be used for the following purposes: to prepare classes or group lists; collecting / processing payments; to contact parents and guardians in case of emergency or for matters related to MBA; mailing any / all information to participants and parents; for the creation and distribution of observation schedules and for the co-ordination of volunteers for MBA-related activities. The Mississauga Ballet Association will not release any personal information about its members without their written permission.

Background Check Policy: A criminal records check, including a vulnerable sector search and , where availalbe, child abuse registry check, for Mississauga Ballet Association staff and volunteers must be completed:

  • Before a staff member, supply staff or volunteer works directly with the children and not more than six (6) months prior to the date of commencement with the program

AND

  • Every four (4) years after the date of the commencement with the program.

In each calendar year in which the background check as required above is not obtained, the program has on file a completed offence declaration signed by the staff member, supply staff or volunteer.

Current and prospective staff members and volunteers who work directly with the children are informed of the policies and procedure at the beginning of the classes each year (September) or at the time of applying to work with MBA (for prospective staff members).
